Most approaches to stress focus on symptoms. Breathe. Meditate. Take a walk. Download the app.  Those things aren't bad. But they're dealing with what stress feels like, not what's causing it. They're painkillers, not a diagnosis.  Stress is deeply personal. What triggers one person barely registers for another, which means cookie-cutter interventions will always miss the mark. And unaddressed stress is expensive: burnout, disengagement, absenteeism, and high turnover.  If you've invested in resilience training before and it didn't stick, it's probably not because your people weren't listening. It's because the training was treating the wrong thing.

What's causing the stress, and why. Moving beyond 'I'm stressed because work is busy' to understanding the specific triggers and patterns underneath.

Get under the surface to find the root cause. Often what we think is causing our stress is actually a symptom of something else entirely.

What you need to shift this stress, right now. Understanding what resources, support, or changes would make a genuine difference, rather than reaching for the first coping strategy that comes to mind.

Realistic, self-directed actions that address cause and symptom. Choosing strategies that fit you, your life, and your reality. Not someone else's top ten tips.

SUSTAIN

Stress evolves, so build in regular check-ins. What works today may not work in six months. The framework is designed to be revisited as your life and work change.

Why diagnosis changes everything

This framework was born from experience. I burnt out in 2017 while working in management consultancy, and the journey back taught me that the standard approaches to stress don't work for most people because they skip the diagnosis.  The S.T.R.E.S.S.™ Framework has been road-tested during and since COVID with organisations of all sizes and blends evidence-based science with practical, accessible tools that people actually use after the training is done.  It's grounded in the principle that stress deserves the same rigour as any other business or personal challenge: diagnosis before treatment.

Why I built this

In 2017, I burnt out. I was working 60-hour weeks, commuting two hours each way, carrying a sales target I'd never been trained for, and choosing all the wrong coping strategies.  I was fortunate enough to have a coach allocated to me as part of my return to work. That coach helped me understand not just that I was stressed, but why, and what I needed to do differently.  Not everyone gets that luxury.  The S.T.R.E.S.S.™ Framework is my attempt to make that kind of guided exploration accessible to everyone, whether you're an individual trying to figure out why nothing's working, or a leader trying to understand why your team is struggling.

Where it all started

Back in 2021, I spoke at TEDx Southampton. My talk, “Building YOUR resilience”, was the first time I really spoke publicly about my belief that stress deserves diagnosis. This was just the beginning…
